R. Demetri Sermons, Ed.D. Dr. Sermons has over 27 years of experience in education and has held positions of leadership at urban public schools in the Southeast. He is currently Principal at Gale-Bailey Elementary School. He is an experienced leader with a track record of success. He has been a successful school leader in the metropolitan Washington D.C. area (DMV), DE, Atlanta, GA, Southern VA and in New England. Dr. Sermons has been a Gifted Education Specialist, Testing Coordinator, RTI Specialist, A.P. Coordinator, Department Chair, Assistant Principal and Principal. Dr. Sermons is a native of Valdosta, Georgia and was the first one in his immediate family to obtain a college degree. He is a proud public-school administrator and advocate for urban youth.  After graduating from high school with honors, he attended Troy University where he obtained a B.A. in English Education and a B.A. in French Education. He then received a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction and an Education Specialist degree in Administration from Central Michigan University. Dr. Sermons obtained a Doctor of Education from Liberty University where his dissertation topic was: Urban Gifted Minority Students: Teacher Perceptions. Dr. Sermons is a mentor and has a passion for education. He thrives in providing multiple opportunities for success and consistent exposure to post-secondary options for scholars. He founded and sponsored the Gentlemen of Quality “GQ,” an all-male mentor group in Atlanta. He is a musician, an avid reader, and is involved in the community. His passion for education and being a proponent for change is what drives him to continue his work in urban areas. Dr. Sermons plans to continue his work in urban education and truly believes that all children have potential, but it is the cultivation of that potential that makes dreams a reality. His motto is “Be Great on Purpose.” |

Megan Parsons Megan Parsons has served as the Assistant Principal at Gale-Bailey Elementary School since 2022. Ms. Parsons began her career with Charles County Public Schools in 2011 and is now in her 15th year in education. She taught mathematics at Theodore G. Davis Middle School for eight years and served as a Mathematics Resource Teacher at Mattawoman Middle School for three years. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education/Mathematics from Clarion University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in Education with a concentration in Curriculum and Instruction from the same institution. She earned her Administration Certification from McDaniel College in 2019. |
